In the territory of the protected landscape area “Veclaicene” there are quite many small lakes. In the northern part of the area there is the Kornetu-Peļļu subglacial ravine where long, narrow and deep lakes are located. The biggest of them are Lake Raipals, Lake Pilskalna, Lake Lielais Baltiņš, Lake Ilgājs and others.
Lake Vaidava is located in the eastern part of the protected landscape are “Veclaicene”. It covers the territory of 23.6 ha, its length from the north to south is 0.75 km, the widest place is 0.5 km, but the deepest place 1.8 m. The bottom of Lake Vaidava is oval, shallow and gently sloping. The shores of the lake are low, mostly peaty, but sandy in the northern side. The lake has a runoff to the river Vaidava.
Lake Vaidava is open for public therefore anybody can go fishing there.
There are 18 different fish species in Lake Vaidavas: gudgeons, golden carps, carps, breams, bleaks, silver breams, sunbleaks, ides, roaches, rudds, tenches, spiny loaches, pikes, ninespine sticklebacks, ruffs, perches and zanders, as well as the European crayfish and the Danube crayfish.
