A 9.5-kilometre nature trail leads along the Peļļi valley and its slopes, forest paths, countryside roads, hillocks and valleys, past seven lakes. It starts at the homestead “Mežvizlas”, descends in the Korneti-Peļļi glacial valley, crosses the Estonia-Latvia border twice and gives an opportunity to visit the Pagans’(Devil’s) Land in Estonia. Deviating a little bit from the trail, it is possible to have a look at the Vorotka ancient stone pile burial site. During the hike you can enjoy the magnificence of the Peļļi valley and the beauty of the four lakes – Lake Ilgājs, Lake Sūneklis, Lake Smilšājs and Lake Peļļi. The border of Latvia and Estonia crosses the lakes right in the middle. On the Estonian side, Lake Ilgājs is Kikkajärv (Rooster’s Lake), Lake Sūneklis is Sarapuujärv (Hazel Lake), Lake Smilšājs is Liivajärv (Sand Lake), but Lake Peļļi is Mudajärv (Mud Lake). The lakes are included in the Paganamaa protected landscape territory. At Lake Smilšājs on the Estonia side, there is a comfortable recreation and swimming place. Crossing the state border at the river Peļļupīte, the trail leads up the hill along a steep slope and a countryside road past Lake Eniķis and up to Lake Palpieris, goes further past Lake Kūriņkalns and returns to the start point along the historical Ape-Korneti highway.
